12 Sep For Those Who Have Ears, Let Them Hear
FOR THOSE WHO HAVE EARS, LET THEM HEAR
There is so much noise right now and so many voices demanding to be heard. When it gets so loud, it seems wise to go back to God’s Word and listen, meditate, contemplate, and perhaps most important, obey the words of Jesus.
I want to encourage you to get in a quiet place, still your mind, and soak in these words of Jesus. Let them penetrate into the deepest places of your heart. He is our Master. We are his servants. Bow to him as he speaks these words of life over you. Try to hear them as if you are hearing them for the first time.
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
“Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
“Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
Jesus Matthew 5:3-16
“But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. To one who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from one who takes away your cloak do not withhold your tunic either. Give to everyone who begs from you, and from one who takes away your goods do not demand them back. And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them. “If you love those who love you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. And if you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to get back the same amount. But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil. Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.” Jesus Luke 6:27-36
“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Jesus
Mark 10:45
“By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” Jesus
John 13:35
“By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.” Jesus
John 15:8
“But seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Jesus
Matthew 6:33
“Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.” James
James 1:19-20
I want to encourage you to lay your spiritual life beside these words and examine your heart. Let the Spirit of Jesus Christ reveal any area that needs to be transformed by His grace. Allow him to do it. Amen.
